Memoirs at 100

Years of Age

BELL PRATT OF GRISDALE

Bell Pratt

ABOUT THIS BOOK:

From early beginnings in Grisdale with accounts of schooldays and farming in days gone by with his family in the Yorkshire dales, written with fondness but also with wry honesty this book also includes carefully researched stories of the Methodist chapel at the heart of the community, Bell’s time in the army, in business in Leeds and in Kendal at the Museum.

Many people will recognise the face on the back cover of this book from several different connections. As he says, the name may also “ring a Bell”. Bell is well known and well loved in his family, in his local community and much further afield.

He says at the beginning of this book that he has always been a book man and wanted to write one himself someday. That “someday” arrived as he reached his century and the result is a book which reflects his honesty, sometimes touching, sometimes humorous, always entertaining, against the backdrop of a world changing at amazing speed from 1910 to 2010.
