ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
BORN in Windermere before the 2nd World War, Mike Bolton's story is simply the one he has lived in this beautiful corner of Lakeland. Leaving school at the age of fifteen to work on a farm he began a 50 year career in farming or closely allied industries. Mike's story is personal but has wider significance as it tells of the changes the 20th century brought to Cumbria in particular and farming in general. This is a real story about real Lake District people who live and work close to the land.
